Found in asymptomatic potatoes (Solanum tuberosum cv. Red La Soda) imported from USA as in vitro plants. Detected in 7 other potato cultivar accessions (Pembina Chipper, Pungo, Kanona, Red Pontiac, Purple Chief, Denali, Tejon) at the Vancouver collection of virus-free potatoes in Canada, and in two other cultivars in the US Varietal collection (High Plains, Platte). Note: Two more carlaviruses have been recently discovered: Potato rough dwarf carlavirus from Argentina and Potato virus P from Brazil. More studies are needed on the possible relationships between these carlaviruses.
