Zone de Texte: A REVIEW ON GEOMATIC TOOLS FOR ASSESSING, INVENTORYING AND MAPPING ALIEN PLANT INVASIONS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN Zone de Texte: Data Analysis – Temporal GIS Zone de Texte: Current GIS manage data based on the cartographic data model, which is very useful in handling, storing, integrating, analysing huge amounts of data collected from different sources. In mathematical therms the cartographic data model represents real world phenomenon using the following expression: K = K(x, y, z) = F(A, B, C, D, ….. N) Where K is the phenomenon to be modeled, the phenomenon is uderstood and stored in the thematic layers A, B, C, and F represents the relationships between these layers (e.g. map-algebra functions). The cartographic model has a static nature and vector and rster layers are limited in representing changes over time.
