Zone de Texte: A REVIEW ON GEOMATIC TOOLS FOR ASSESSING, INVENTORYING AND MAPPING ALIEN PLANT INVASIONS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN
Zone de Texte: Data Analysis - Models Zone de Texte: The analysis of species-environment relationships is a central issue in invasion biology and the quantification of such relationships represents the core of predictive geographical modelling (e.g. Higgins & Richardson, 1996; Guisan & Zimmermann, 2000) Zone de Texte: It is possible to classify available modelling techniques according to different criteria. The possibility of using different models dipends by the research aim, the type of available data, ecological and statistical consideration, such as wether taking into account or not spatial and temporal processes. Chosing and evaluating different models is not a trivial point. Zone de Texte: In any case the availability of geomatic tools is of primary interest for bulding, calibrating, evaluating models. Another point to stress is that the “typical” environmental predictors are often not sufficient to model aliens at local od even regional scales (e.g. Araújo, 2003; Loehle & LeBlanc, 1996; Midgley et al., 2003; Thuiller et al., 2004; Pino et al, 2005; Lobo et al., 2001)
