Zone de Texte: Social Awareness: Eradication Excursions Zone de Texte: Two volunteer excursions were organised duirng the project. They proved extremely useful, both in terms of raising people’s awareness and eliminating the plant. In the first excursion in November 2003, 130 people removed Carpobrotus covering a surface area of 10.000 m˛. Each excursion was preceded by an informative campaign addressed inhabitants in the area. Before work commenced a brief talk was given on scientific aspects of the work and the importance of eliminating Carpobrotus.
