Zone de Texte: Preparing the Eradication: Cartography of Carpobrotus Zone de Texte: Methodology • The distribution of Carpobrotus has been mapped on a scale of 1:1000 • The presence of the plant was recorded in two ways: - as a point for entities with a surface area of less than 300 mē - as a polygon for entities with a larger surface area • For each entity recorded a card was filled with additional data such as slope of the ground, orientation, age of the plant, etc. • The cartography was linked to an environmental GIS of the island Zone de Texte: Objectives • Supporting tool for planning the eradication works • A base for future studies on the ecology of the plant Zone de Texte: Results • 69.8 ha were afectet by Carpobrotus, 28,5 of them directly occupied by the plant • 98 % of the plants were less than 500 m from a main path.
