IPPC Working Group on the Glossary of Phytosanitary Terms

This was the fourth meeting of the Glossary group which is now given the regular task of reviewing and improving ISPM no.5; as agreed by the ICPM in 1999-10. Proposals were made in three main areas:

1. terms distinguishing 'actions' from 'measures' (e.g. emergency actions from emergency measures);
2. revisions of the definition of the various 'commodity classes';
3. definition of 'official control' for consideration by the immediately following open-ended working group in Bordeaux (to which they travelled from Paris by the rapid TGV train).
