ICPM Working Group on Information exchange

The revision of the IPPC has included new developments in the concept of information exchange between the contracting parties.The IPPC Secretariat is no longer called upon to collect and present information, and the contracting parties are to an increasing extent expected to communicated directly witheach other. The Chairman of the ICPM, Dr Hedley had called on this working group to outline a new and practical system of information exchange. Members clearly perceived that this had to take full advantage of new electronic communications, and proposed the creation of the 'International Phytosanitary Portal' as a medium managed by the Secretariat, but provided with information directly by the countries. The meeting was hosted by EPPO, and several experts from European countries took part.
